The Five Principles of Montessori that we at creative Stars follow:

  • Principle 1: Respect for the Child. Respect for the Child is the major principle underlying the entire Montessori method.
  • Principle 2: The Absorbent Mind.
  • Principle 3: Sensitive Periods.
  • Principle 4: The Prepared Environment.
  • Principle 5: Auto education: Control of error allows the child to self-correct. Auto education, or self-education, is the concept that children can educate themselves. This is one of the most important beliefs in the Montessori method. Our Montessori teachers provide the environment, the inspiration, the guidance, and the encouragement for children to educate themselves.
  At Creative Stars, our Montessori school classroom, movement is built into the work and into the lessons so that children do not spend long periods of time sitting still. For example, the work of “Golden Beads” requires that students make multiple trips to the “bank” to fetch the golden beads that they need to do their math problem.

Materials used in our Montessori classroom engage all the senses. Students are free to move about the classroom, which is an advantage for those children who require a lot of physical activity.

At creative Stars, our model is based on two basic principles.

First, children engage in psychological self-construction by means of interaction with their environments.

Second, children, especially under the age of six, have an innate path of psychological development.

Maria Montessori believed that children best develop when they are allowed to make decisions and act freely within an environment that emphasizes the following qualities:

  • An arrangement that facilitates movement and activity, Beauty, harmony, and cleanliness of the environment.
  • Construction in proportion to the child’s needs
  • Limitation of materials, so that only material that supports the child’s development is included
  • Order
  • Nature in the classroom and outside of the classroom.
